Hi, I'm Tricia -- welcome to our family!

Building this community is an absolute dream. Having gone through 8 years of engineering school followed by a decade of delivering large-scale software projects, I felt drained and burnt out. I was torn between work, family, commitments and all the things that I love to do, and ended up putting myself last and feeling alone. Inspired by the beautiful and dynamic artwork of Arty Guava as well as the communities of incredible women-led NFT projects like Curious Addys and Meta Angels, I left my corporate job and decided to apply my strengths to something I'm passionate about: creating a space founded in kindness where we can learn from one other and grow together, and find a little more balance in our lives. Web3 is the perfect platform for Guava Girls, and I'm excited to drive real-world impact with an amazing team by my side.

On a personal front, I'm a Vancouverite for life. I was born, raised and still live in Vancouver, Canada with my husband and 2- and 4-year old daughters. I'm driven by passion projects, and during my maternity leave I founded and continue to run a charity that supports individuals searching for home health equipment that they need to be safe in their daily lives. I love travelling around the world to learn about new cultures, and you'll often find me by the water -- swimming laps at the pool, kayaking, water skiing, scuba diving... you name it!

Hey! I’m Lay Hoon. The 2 loves in my life are art and guava, hence the name Arty Guava.

I’m born and raised in Malaysia and I’m now living with my family in beautiful Vancouver. Professionally, I’ve been a designer / art director for the past decade specialising in branding and packaging.

Rewind 2 years ago, at the start of the global pandemic, I started illustrating religiously everyday to help myself cope with the stress, isolation, and uncertainty of what was happening around me. It was sort of my own version of art therapy. I live vicariously through my artworks, often depicting women being free, dancing and cavorting among nature. Through that whole experience, I found my artist voice which is to create moments of joy for myself and my audience through my artwork.

I was first introduced to the NFT space by my co-founder Tricia. She saw a mural I did in her neighbourhood and decided to contact me to see if I was interested in exploring opportunities in the NFT space. A lot of other people were also encouraging me to so. I took that as a sign from the universe and just went with the flow and dive in. So here I am now.

The idea of Guava Girls came about quite organically, through conversations I had with the team about the challenges we all face as women. Balance was something we all struggle with and the problem is definitely exacerbated when we feel isolated. It is really meaningful for me to use my art to help people struggling with balance feel seen and understood and to unite them in a community that wants to help them find balance in their lives.

Curious and excited to see how this story unfolds.
